Damariz Rodriguez

HIRMA Board Officer: President

Damariz Rodriguez is a Founding Member of HIRMA. Damariz is the founder and owner of Real Time Services, Inc., providing court reporting & interpreting services. She has led the transition of Real Time Services from a small startup service provider, to a mid-size company providing a multitude of services. Damariz has successfully completed and obtained her company’s certification as a Women and Minority Business Enterprise. She has been in the workers’ compensation industry for approximately 20 years; her experience in began in the field as a benefit coordinator to injured workers, a position that she held for 5 years. Damariz is a member of various others professional and trade associations. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix in 2011 and completed the Goldman Sachs, 10K Small Business program in 2013. Ms. Rodriguez also completed an interpretation program at the Southern California School of Interpretation in 2006. She enjoys and values spending time with family and friends and loves leisure travel, concerts, theater as well as outdoor activities and authentic quality food and cooking.

Chris Gutierrez, FCLS, CECI, PI

HIRMA Board Officer: Secretary

Chris Gutierrez is a licensed private investigator and the CEO of STRYKE National Investigations, a nationwide firm specializing in insurance fraud and defense servicing self-insured corporations, third-party administrators, law firms, insurance companies, government entities, and popular brands in the country. Chris has served in law enforcement and as the SIU expert for two of the most recognized insurance carriers in the country, handling complex investigations of auto claims, general liability, workers’ compensation, and property. Chris is a certified expert in cyber investigations, an accredited fraud claim law specialist, a forensic interviewer, a public speaker, and a recognized insurance defense expert. He was the recipient of the 2022 CEU Next Generation award and is an avid writer for various industry publications, newsletters, and social media platforms. Chris is a passionate entrepreneur and looks forward to helping with the innovation and expansion of HIRMA.

Carlos Rodriguez, Ed.D., CIH, CSP

HIRMA Board Officer: Treasurer

Dr. Carlos Rodriguez, CIH, CSP is a Founding Member of HIRMA. He is a HES Professional for Marathon Petroleum with prior safety experience in municipal government and insurance. Dr. Rodriguez holds a doctorate in organizational leadership and is an adjunct instructor for Brandman University teaching courses in strategic planning and leadership and for Waldorf University teaching courses in safety and hazardous materials.

Julio E. Martinez

HIRMA Board of Directors: Director of Legal Affairs

Julio E. Martinez graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience in 1998. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree in 2007 from Pacific Coast University School of Law, graduating with distinction. Julio was admitted to the California State Bar in December of 2007 and has been with Testan Law since 2009. Julio is the Managing Partner in the firm’s Santa Ana office and handles all aspects of Workers’ Compensation defense. Prior to joining Testan Law, Julio represented injured workers in Workers’ Compensation and employment-related matters.

Julio is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County and has been a speaker at many workers’ compensation conference events. He is a member of RIMS and CLM and received the prestigious designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) from the CLM’s Litigation Management Institute.

Marjorie Davidson, MBA

HIRMA Board of Directors: Co-Director of Sponsorships

Marjorie Davidson, Workers’ Compensation Manager at Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc., began her career in New York. She developed, implemented and was responsible for overseeing the County of Nassau’s workers’ compensation program. She joined Bimbo in 2006, working out of the corporate office in the State of Pennsylvania. In 2010, Marjorie relocated to Southern California to run the Bimbo’s California workers’ compensation program. Currently, she resides in Austin, TX. She received her Bachelor of the Arts from New York University and holds a Lawyer’s Assistant Program certification from Adelphi University, also in New York. Marjorie received her Master of Business Administration from Holy Family University in Pennsylvania.

Karen Jean Fry, WCCP, SIA

HIRMA Board of Directors

Karen Fry has worked with various industries for more than 30 years in the workers’ compensation and risk management arena. Ms. Fry graduated from Woodbury University with a bachelor of science degree in International Business and now has extensive experience in managing multi-line claims administration including Workers’ Compensation, Personal Disability, General Liability, and as well as Special Investigation Units.

Karen enjoys actively contributing to the insurance community and often participates in conferences and conventions.

Al Navarro

HIRMA Board of Directors: Director of Publicity

Al Navarro graduated from Whittier College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Business Administration. He has more than 33 years of experience in the workers’ compensation industry including claims examiner, claims supervisor, lien negotiations, and legal representation of self-insured employers and third-party administrators (TPAs). Al also has 10 years sales experience representing managed care, bill review and other ancillary service firms. As a gifted negotiator, Al has proven to be a great asset for his clients through successful in-house lien negotiations, as well as WCAB appearances throughout the State of California. Al is an avid reader and enjoys being physically active. He believes that organizations like HIRMA afford its community of members opportunities for continued educational development and professional growth through networking.

Kristen Chavez

HIRMA Board of Directors

Kristen Chavez is currently the Account Executive in the Western Region for Gallagher Bassett. Kristen’s primary responsibilities is to focus on Risk Management sales and business development in Southern California. Prior to Gallagher Bassett, Kristen spent 17 years with WorkCompCentral in a variety of roles ranging from Director of Operations to President and CEO.

Kristen also serves as the President of Kids’ Chance of California, which is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to provide college scholarships to children of workers who have been fatally or seriously injured on the job. She looks forward to the opportunity and helping children that are directly impacted by our industry.
